There are stretches where you're not ill, you're just running on less than usual.
A run of late nights, a few weeks of eating whatever was quickest, too much on for too long. Immune Defence is made for those stretches, and for the ordinary ones either side.
Amla, or Indian gooseberry, leads as whole fruit. In Ayurveda it is a rasayana, one of the plants taken daily over long periods on the understanding that resilience accumulates rather than arrives. Tulsi, or holy basil, is traditionally taken for the body's natural defences. Ginger is traditionally used to warm the body in cold, damp weather, and turmeric, the golden spice, traditionally for all-round wellbeing.
How the blend works
Amla is cooling, which is surprising for something so sour. Tulsi, ginger and turmeric sit behind it and balance that coolness with warmth, which is what a cooler, damper climate than India's tends to call for. The blend lands gently warming rather than tipping too far either way.
Amla appears twice. The whole fruit is the herb, and it leads. The organic amla extract is where the vitamin C comes from, with enough to cover you for the day. Whole plant first, extract only where a nutrient level has to be met.
The formula
Amla (leads): the great rasayana fruit, traditionally for resilience
Tulsi (lifts): traditionally taken for the body's natural defences
Ginger (warms): traditionally used to warm the body in cold, damp weather
Turmeric (rounds): golden spice, traditionally for all-round wellbeing
Vitamin C (completes): contributes to the normal function of the immune system
What you might notice:
In the first one to two weeks, many say they feel a little brighter day to day as the routine settles
By three months, the fullest picture. Amla is a rasayana, a herb meant to be taken steadily over months
These are traditional uses, built on centuries of practice.
Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to the protection of cells from oxidative stress and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
